Forthcoming Residency in Singapore
On 14th September Ellie will leave for Singapore where she has been invited to attend the 5th International Tropical Lab Residency at Lasalle College of the Arts.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of TROPICAL LAB are to expand the views of the participants, to exchange experiences, aid research and stimulate creative thinking through a collaborative approach.
Theme
This year the residency theme is Masak masak. Masak masak refers to a Malay term for make-believe cooking and even child’s play. As a concept that exists in the popular imagination of many in Singapore and her neighboring countries, masak masak invokes the centrality of food in our daily lives.
A series of creative workshops and other activities (presentations, seminar, dialogues, trips) will be conducted by internationally renowned artist Rirkrit Tiravania and staff members from LASALLE College of the Arts campus and studios, within workshop venues and auditoriums, with assistance from technical officers and students.
Motivation
To create a positive environment that will stimulate and cultivate minds, imaginations, emotional (intuitive) consciousness and cultural sensibilities of the participating emergent generation of artists.
Duration
TROPICAL LAB 5 will happen from 15 September to 24 September 2011.
